Trustee races key in Livingston County

PONTIAC - The April 17 elections in Livingston County will feature contests for municipal trustee and school board and voters of Fayette Township will vote on whether to have a new tax for cemetery maintenance.

A look at contested races and referenda follow:

Chatsworth, Dwight, Emington, Fairbury

In Chatsworth, five people seek three open seats for trustee. Candidates are Stephen A. Maxson; Terry O. Miller; Francis Haberkorn; Leonard Aiello; and Rita G. Rich.

In Dwight, four people seek three open seats for trustee. Candidates are retiree Jerry Curtis; Bill Wilkey, a barber; Angie Airgood, who owns a hair studio; and Ron Skinner.

In Emington, four candidates seek three open seats for trustee. Candidates are Darlene Lithgow; Ruby Vant; Robert Shelton; and Billy Billingsley.

In Fairbury, Jon M. Kinate and Lana M. Peterson want the lone seat in Ward One. Ward Three incumbent Maurice D. Steidinger faces farmer David Winterland.

School districts

In Allen-Otter Creek, five people seek three open seats. Candidates are incumbents Thomas J. Emm and Shari D. Widman, both of rural Ransom; Kimberly Gardner, rural Ransom, a homemaker; Robert L. Wheeler Jr., Ransom; and Amy Byers, Ransom, who works for Exelon.

In Dwight Common, four people seek three open seats. Incumbents Debra Christoff, Bret Heinrich and Karen Smith, who all live in Dwight, face pharmacist Rob Pulver of Dwight.

In Dwight Township, five people seek three open seats. Candidates are incumbents Irvin Masching and Kim Rodosky, both of rural Dwight; Don Holland, Dwight, who works for the National Guard; retiree John Kresl, Dwight; and Jeffrey Milbauer, Dwight.

In El Paso-Gridley, eight candidates seek four open seats. Candidates are Eric Zehr and Curt Stoller, who both work for Country Insurance & Financial Services; DeLois Wilkey, who works in an auction business; David L. Mool, a production manager at a Eureka farm; Shelbie K. Bigger, a lab supervisor; Debra S. Gillespie, who works for State Farm Insurance Cos.; Casey Knobloch, a driver for Illinois Department of Transportation; and farmer Dale Schlipf.

In Odell, four candidates seek three open seats. Candidates, all from Odell, are incumbents Mark A. Hilleary and Debra Snyder; Jaime Wykes; and Kevin M. Roe.

In Pontiac District 429, six people seek four open seats. Candidates are incumbents Michael W. Fairfield and Cheri Lambert; Adeana Fox, who works for Futures Unlimited; Stacey Shrewsbury, who works for Challenger Learning Center in Bloomington; retiree Ed Lipinski; and Candice Vilt, who works for the Pontiac Post Office.

In Rooks Creek, four candidates seek three open seats. Candidates, who all live in Graymont, are incumbents Mona Zehr and Mark Leach; Tricia Kilburn-Zehr, who works at Streator bank; Aaron Thomas Jeziorski, who works at State Farm Insurance Cos.

Referendum

Voters of Fayette Township will vote whether to approve a new tax for cemetery maintenance. If approved, the owner of a $100,000 house would pay an additional $50 per year in property taxes.

Voters also will be asked to choose members of boards for parks, libraries, regional school boards, land commissioner and fire protection districts.
