BLOOMINGTON - A LeRoy man accused of killing his pregnant sister-in-law in the room he shared with his wife and children was in court Tuesday for a status bearing.

Jason Marksteiner, 21, is accused of the Oct. 28 death of Jodi McGrew in a bedroom of his parents' LeRoy home. Strangulation was listed in a coroner's report as a contributing factor to McGrew's death.

The 19-year-old victim was hit several times in the head and sexually assaulted, according to charges. Marksteiner faces three counts of murder and intentional homicide of an unborn child.

About a dozen family members and supporters of McGrew were in the McLean County courtroom for the hearing.

Marksteiner was accompanied by Public Defender Amy Davis. He remains jailed in lieu of posting $100,000.

A Feb. 4 date has been set for the next hearing to review the status of the case.
