BLOOMINGTON - A progress report on what has been done so far to plan for downtown Bloomington's future will be part of a two-hour meeting Wednesday night.
The city and the Downtown Bloomington Association contracted with Farr Associates to create a redevelopment plan for the city's central business district.
The meeting planned for 7 p.m. at the State Farm Insurance Cos. building, 112 E. Washington St., also will be a second opportunity for community members to have their say about what they want to see for downtown, said DBA Director Erika Kubsch.
"As we saw in the first meeting, people have a lot of passion for downtown," Kubsch said, referring to a November meeting that kicked off the redevelopment study. About 200 packed a conference room at the downtown State Farm building.
Farr Associates is a Chicago-based firm of architects and urban planners who have drafted the Main Street Corridor plan as well as the Uptown Normal redevelopment plan.
Members of Farr's team will spend today and Wednesday in downtown studying a variety of topics, such as retail, housing, office spaces, street design and redevelopment planning.
Kubsch said the community will get a chance to review the work done by the urban planners so far.
The complete plan could be ready for the Bloomington City Council as early as September.
