MOLINE - Western Illinois University President Al Goldfarb says he plans to retire after the 2010-2011 school year.
Goldfarb told university trustees during their regular meeting Friday at the school's Moline campus after they gave him a two-year contract extension. He says he plans to step down when the contract expires on June 30, 2011.
The 58-year-old Goldfarb says he may teach theater history after he retires and continue writing textbooks. He's done both while president at Western Illinois.
Goldfarb is the 10th president of the university, which has its main campus in Macomb. He took the job in 2002 after working at Illinois State for more than two decades.
