BLOOMINGTON - Three people were treated and released from hospitals following a two-car crash Sunday evening on the city's east side.

The collision occurred about 7:15 p.m., when a southbound car went through a red light and collided with a car turning from northbound Veterans Parkway onto westbound Oakland Avenue, said Bloomington Police spokesman Duane Moss.

Sarika Bafna, 32, of Cashel Drive, and Aarushi Bafna, 3, were both treated at BroMenn Regional Medical Center. Emily Harpenau, 22, of Farmer City, was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Harpenau had been driving south, and she told police she didn't see her light was red until she was about 15 feet from the other car, Moss said. One of the cars caught fire after the collision, and the crash delayed traffic for about 30 minutes.
