NORMAL - Normal police have released surveillance camera video showing the Dec. 9 robbery of the U.S. Bank branch in Normal. | Video
Police said last week that they believe the man who robbed the bank is the same man who robbed a Bloomington bank Dec. 3.
No arrests have been made in either case.
Assistant Chief of Police Kirk Ijams said police got the video for public viewing as quickly as possible. Due to technology issues, he said, "it took a while to get the video in a useable format."
"The stills and the video they have at that bank are among the best in town," said Normal Police Sgt. Dan Kelly. "It makes it much easier to identify the suspect."
A man with a gun robbed the U.S. Bank, 1401 S. Main St., Normal, shortly after 4:30 p.m. Dec. 9, Normal police said. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Based on the suspect's description a white male between 40 and 50 years old and around 5 feet 10 inches tall his hooded sweat shirt and mask and the type of gun used, police believe it's the same man who robbed National City Bank, 1332 E. Empire St., Dec. 3, said Ijams.
No one was injured in either robbery, both of which took place just before the lobbies of each bank were to close for the day at 5 p.m. The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash in each case.
