Power restored after storm

BLOOMINGTON - Power was restored to about 500 AmerenIP customers in Bloomington-Normal shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday after those homes and businesses went more than 16 hours without electricity following Tuesday evening's storm.

AmerenIP spokesman Leigh Morris said the storm took down poles, lines and transformers in the 700 block of Franklin Avenue in Normal.

Physicians' offices at the BroMenn Regional Medical Center complex were affected.

Morris said crews began working on the outage late Tuesday evening and had to replace the downed equipment.

Vehicle burglary - A laptop computer was stolen Monday or Tuesday from a vehicle in the 200 block of Foster Drive, a Normal police report said.

Burglary - Cash and two cell phones were stolen from a vehicle Monday in the 1500 block of East College Avenue, a Normal police report said.

Burglary - A wallet and two iPods were stolen Friday or Saturday from a vehicle in 1200 block of Stephens Drive, a Normal police report said.

Theft - A DVD was stolen from a mailbox Friday or Saturday in the 700 block of North Fell Avenue, a Normal police report said.

Burglary - A man's mountain bike was stolen sometime between July 13 and 19 from the 300 block of West Virginia Avenue, a Normal police report said.

Woman given prison for theft

BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington woman was sentenced to three years in prison for forgery and theft.

Elizabeth Garcia, 30, was sentenced to two years for forgery related to a check written on another person's account. A consecutive one-year term was handed down for theft of a camera and camera equipment. Garcia also was ordered to pay $1587 to Freestar Bank in the forgery case.

Cocaine - Bond was set at $10,000 for a Bloomington man accused of selling cocaine to a confidential police source.

Lloyd Leshoure of the 400 block of East Monroe Street is charged with four counts of selling the drug near a church.

Retail theft - A Bloomington woman was held in lieu of $500 bond on charges of retail theft over $150.

Ashley Duncan, 18, is accused of taking merchandise from Kohl's.

Marijuana - A Wyoming man was placed on 24 months of probation for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver the drug.

Logan Fair, 19, was placed on first-offender probation and ordered to complete 30 hours of community service. A $200 street value fine was assessed. Fair was accused of possessing marijuana during a June 24 traffic stop in McLean County.

Cocaine - Bond was set at $3,000 for a man accused of selling cocaine.

Joseph Bard of the 100 block of West Market Street, Bloomington, is charged with the May 13 delivery of a controlled substance.

Sex offender - A Bloomington man faces charges of failing to register as a sex offender.

Claude Ortglesen , 44, of the 1400 block of Kurt Drive must post $1,000 to be released on the charges.

Battery - A homeless man was charged with aggravated battery after police said he slammed a man's head on the pavement of Roosevelt Avenue, Bloomington.

Leslie Williams, 35, must post $1,000 to be released on charges related to the Monday incident.

Burglary - A 20-year-old Bloomington man was jailed in lieu of posting $5,000 on charges of residential burglary and burglary.

Ryan Cielocha of Hillcrest Lane is accused of the burglary of a man's home and vehicle Tuesday.

Unlawful restraint - A Bloomington man must post $750 to be released on charges that say he restrained a woman.

Robert Schultz of the 200 block of West Division Street restrained the woman during an incident Monday, police said.

Order of protection - A woman accused of violating an order of protection was jailed in lieu of posting $500.

Lisa Sellner, 42, of the 1300 block of North Ewing Street, is accused of contacting a person covered under a previous order of protection.

Cocaine - A 19-year-old man faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Raymone Stephens, of the 800 block of East Washington Street, must post $500 to be released on charges that he possessed cocaine.
