Man accused of heroin possession

BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington man was jailed in lieu of posting $1,000 on charges that he possessed heroin.

Kenneth Shuell, 48, of the 600 block of East Olive Street, faces a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Fraud - A woman from Normal is accused of purchasing $118 in groceries using another person's account number.

Berna Karasen, 30, of the 700 block Golfcrest Road, was jailed in lieu of posting $100 in connection with the Nov. 16 incident. She is charged with utilization of an account number with intent to defraud.

Registration - A man who allegedly gave police false information about his address is charged with violation of sex offender registration rules.

Donald Burchett, 30, told police his address was in the 1000 block of East Lafayette Street in Bloomington. Charges state that Burchett did not live at that address between July and December. He was jailed in lieu of posting $250.

Aggravated battery - A Dec. 31 incident at Fat Jack's in Bloomington resulted in two counts of aggravated battery charges against a man from Normal.

Matthew G. Pickell, 27, of the 400 block of Marian Street, was jailed in lieu of posting $250. He is accused of hitting a woman.

Police, fire, rescue

Vehicle burglary - A large sum of cash was taken from a car near the intersection of Center and Front streets between 8:45 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 a.m. Thursday, a Bloomington police report said.

Vehicle burglary - A wallet, cash, and identification cards were taken from a car in the 1200 block of Rutledge Road between midnight and 10 a.m. Thursday, a Bloomington police report said.
