URBANA - The Unit 5 School District was not part of a settlement agreement reached this week with a victim of former Unit 5 and Urbana teacher Jon White.
Champaign attorney Ellyn Bullock confirmed the $390,000 settlement with the Urbana district and the girl who was a student at Thomas Paine Elementary in Urbana, where White taught after leaving Colene Hoose Elementary in Normal in 2005.
The funds will be paid to the child in a structured settlement starting when she is 18, Bullock confirmed.

White pleaded guilty in February to sexually abusing eight girls between August 2005 and December 2006 in Urbana classrooms. Guilty pleas to abusing two students at Hoose followed in McLean County. White is serving 60 years in prison.
The recent agreement with a child referred to as Jane Doe-2 in court records releases the Urbana district and officials but not Unit 5 or White from the lawsuit filed in federal court.
Last week, another victim reached an agreement with the Urbana district for $300,000. The child's family had not filed a lawsuit.
Still pending are several other lawsuits in federal and state court against White and the school districts.
Unit 5 also faces claims in federal court from Cincinnati Insurance Company that the district does not have coverage under the district's policy. The lawsuit pending against Unit 5 by the child seeks $1 million.
