100 years ago

Nov. 25, 1908: Opera singer Kate Condon of Bloomington will perform tonight at The Grand. This is her first public appearance since she went to Paris to study two years ago. She made her operatic debut eight years ago with the Savage Company.

75 years ago

Nov. 25, 1933: Delores Gillen, daughter of Mrs. Mary Gillen of Clinton, is on the air with the Bob Nolan Revue over one of Chicago's bigger radio stations. Lately she has taken several important parts in radio broadcasts.

50 years ago

Nov. 25, 1958: Normal Police Chief Harold Sylvester is leaving to become chief deputy under incoming Sheriff Elmo "Doc" Poshard. The Normal Police Department will be run by committee for now, with two sergeants and a patrolman each commanding a work shift.

25 years ago

Nov. 25, 1983: Three local 4-H members will attend the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. Illinois will have only 48 representatives there. The local 4-H'ers are Susan Messamore of Arrowsmith, Chris Graf of rural Bloomington, and Steve Sherrard of Normal.
