BLOOMINGTON - Halloween might be a few weeks away but Bloomington witnessed magic Saturday.
Mike Super of television's "Phenomenon" and self-described "mentalist" performed Saturday at the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts.
Two weeks before his performance he sent the center an audiocassette tape with his predictions for the the first two front-page headlines of the Saturday, Oct. 11 issue of the Pantagraph.
"He was dead on," said David Weiner," marketing associate for the center. Weiner said Super had predicted headlines: "Wild day leaves little changed: Dow falls 'only' 128 points" and the headline: "Prisoners shipped out: Pontiac officials fear move first step toward prison closure."
Before an audience of 685, Steve Timmermann, vice president of First Farmers State Bank, brought on stage the vault in which the tape had been stored. Timmermann opened the vault and played the tape for an audience that Weiner described as "enthusiastically thrilled."
