NORMAL - Illinois State University is looking to fill several key leadership positions at the Normal campus.

Of ISU's six academic colleges, four have been working under interim deans over the past year.

Last week, the College of Fine Arts dropped interim from Jim Major's title, making him dean. He's been at the helm since January when Lonny Gordon stepped down.

Three searches continue:

• College of Applied Science and Technology. A national search is nearly complete, with a chief expected to be named before the year's end, said Jay Groves, ISU spokesman. Longtime dean Bob Rossman retired in fall 2006; Jeff Wood has been interim dean.

• Mennonite College of Nursing. A search is just beginning, with a dean to be named by July. Sarah Campbell became interim dean in July 2007 after Nancy Ridenour stepped down from the role, to become a congressional staff member through a fellowship. She recently was named University of New Mexico College of Nursing dean.

• College of Business. Final interviews are in progress for the national search, the second conducted since Dixie Mills retired. ISU expects to have a dean named by July 1. Charles McGuire is interim dean.

Two other ISU colleges are not in searches: the College of Arts and Sciences, the university's largest area, is led by Gary Olson; the university libraries are led by Cheryl Elzy.
