NORMAL - A $12,000, six-wheeled, electric wheelchair was stolen Monday from a parking lot, Illinois State University police said Tuesday.
The owner told police she left the chair by the recycling bins in an ISU parking lot at the corner of Normal Avenue and Locust Street.
She told police she went into the Bone Student Center with friends about 10:30 p.m. She discovered the chair was gone when she returned about 11:30 p.m.
She told police she disengaged the drive to prevent it from being stolen.
More than one person stole it because it weighed 350 pounds, police said.
