NORMAL - Traffic was snarled for more than half an hour Wednesday afternoon on Main Street in Normal because a pickup truck hit a power pole, police said.

A pickup truck struck a power pole just north of the intersection with Dry Grove Street about 3:10 p.m., police said. A live power line fell across the truck, another car and the street, forcing police to divert traffic.

An Ameren crew cleared the line about 3:50 p.m., allowing traffic to start flowing again on Main.

Northbound traffic on Main was backed up as far south as the intersection with Hovey Avenue/Beaufort Street for a time.

No one was injured, police said.
