BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington teenager was in custody after police said he fired a gun from a moving car in the direction of a group of people Wednesday afternoon on the city's west side.
Clinton Forrest, 17, of the 1000 block of North Western Avenue, was a passenger in a white Ford Mustang that drove by the group of people standing near a parked pickup truck, police spokesman Duane Moss said. The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Mill Street, Moss said.
Witnesses told police they saw the 17-year-old, whom they knew, lean out the car's passenger window and fire three or four shots at the group before driving away, authorities said.
Charges of aggravated assault and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon were filed Thursday against Forrest, who was jailed in lieu of posting $10,000.
No one in the group - the truck's male owner, two females and another male - was hit by the gunfire. A garbage can and the pickup truck's front license plate were hit by bullets, however, Moss said.
The owner of the pickup truck told police he and Forrest do not get along because of a prior incident, Moss said.
