BLOOMINGTON - Matt Sorensen will remain as McLean County Board chairman and Ben Owens will step into the vice chairman's job.
Sorensen, 8270 Idlewood Drive, Bloomington, was elected to his first two-year term as chairman during a special board meeting Monday at the Government Center. He first was elected chairman in August 2007 after former board member Mike Sweeney resigned. Sorensen is a Republican who represents District 2, which is generally southeast McLean County.
Owens, 3207 Winchester, Bloomington, will take over as vice chairman. He replaces Stan Hoselton of Lexington, who was not nominated for a full term.
Hoselton was elected vice chairman in September after former board member and vice chairman David Selzer resigned.
Owens, a Republican, also was nominated to be vice chairman in September, but he did not receive enough votes. Owens represents District 10, which is roughly southeast Bloomington.
No other board members were nominated for the two leadership positions.
Board members also received their committee assignments Monday.
