US Bank is offering a reward, he said, but details were not immediately unavailable. Anyone with information needs to call Normal police, not the bank. Police will screen the information. Police earlier said the police contact is Det. Nicole Bruno, at (309) 454-9702.
Crime Stoppers of McLean County has a standing offer of rewards up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for felony acts in the county. Crime Stoppers can be reached anonymously at (309) 828-1111.
US Bank, 1401 S. Main St., was robbed at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a second New Year's Eve robbery at 5:16 p.m. at the Cash Store, 1700 Parkway Plaza. In both cases, a man with a gun fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. US Bank was also robbed Dec. 9.
Bloomington banks robbed were National City Bank, 1332 E. Empire St., on Dec. 3, and Freestar Bank, near Towanda and Empire Street, on Dec. 16.
Wednesday's suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, medium build, a face mask, dark hooded zip up jacket. He had a black gun.
Police said descriptions and surveillance photos were similar in all five robberies.
There were at least four bank robberies in Bloomington in 2008, up from three in 2007 and three in 2006. In Normal, there was one in 2006, three in 2007 and three in 2008.
