BLOOMINGTON - A 24-year-old Bloomington man told police a stranger carrying a wooden plank struck him in the back of the head Monday night on the city's west side.
The victim told police he was walking home around 11:15 p.m. when he saw a group of teenagers he didn't know "goofing around" near Mulberry and Oak streets, said police spokesman Duane Moss. One of the teens was carrying a wooden plank, he told police.
As the victim passed the armed male without exchanging words, he was reportedly struck in the back of the head, Moss said. The suspect fled on foot, and no description was available.
The victim was taken to BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said. He did not have any visible injuries, Moss said.
