100 years ago
Jan. 13, 1909: "Did you know Lincoln?" asked the Pantagraph. Honest Abe's 100th birthday is coming February 12 and the paper wants readers to share their memories of him. New facts and untold stories about Mr. Lincoln will be especially welcome.
75 years ago
Jan. 13, 1934: A newspaper photo shows a team of horses as part of the work force grading the runways at the new Bloomington airport east of town. 73 depression relief workers are also at work on the project.
50 years ago
Jan. 13, 1959: A self-styled teenage gang is looking for a place to hold its meetings. Made up of boys ages 12-17 living north and west of downtown, the group wants to rent a place and decorate it. Anyone interested should call 2-7544 and talk to "Tom".
25 years ago
Jan. 13, 1984: Eva Cornelius was a prolific quilting lady almost till the end of her life. She died at her home, 503 East Olive, at the age of 100. In her lifetime she had pieced and quilted more than 40 quilts. She finished her last one only two years ago.
