NORMAL - A 16-year-old Bloomington boy linked to three separate residential burglaries and a sexual assault is facing 13 separate charges after a court appearance Saturday.

Residences in the 200, 300 and 400 block of West Willow Street were burglarized between 2 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police reports. One of the burglary victims, and a resident at the 400 block, a college-aged female, was sexually assaulted during the burglary by the suspect, Normal police said.

The teen is charged with residential burglary, criminal damage to property, unlawful restraint, aggravated criminal sexual assault, unlawful use of a weapon, intimidation, illegal consumption by a minor, curfew, motor vehicle theft, home invasion, aggravated assualt, hit and run and obstructing justice.

The victim's vehicle, a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, was also taken by the suspect, police said. The boy was driving west on Seminary Avenue at the intersection of Calhoun Street when he drove off the road and struck a utility pole, a Bloomington police report said.

The teen, who is not identified because he is a minor, continued driving off the road, hit a street sign and ended up at nearby White Oaks Park, police said.

Bloomington police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the grass of White Oak Park, and items related to the burglaries were found in the teen's possession, police said. They were able to trace tire marks from a flat rear tire from the accidents to the park.

The victim of the sexual assault was treated at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Further information on the items taken in the burglaries was not available Sunday. Anyone with additional information should contact Normal Police Detective Brian Eggleston at (309) 433-3439.
