NORMAL - A 60-year-old woman who left dozens of Christmas presents and other items in her 1999 Jeep overnight thought they would be safe. She was wrong.
A Bible was among the items stolen in the burglary between 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 9:30 a.m. Dec. 6. in the 1700 block of North School Street. The report was on file at the Normal police station Monday.
A Cabbage Patch doll, a bouncy horse, a Fisher Price pirate ship, two cowboy gun sets, a 20-car Hot Wheels launcher and a child-size folding table and chairs were among the children's items stolen.
Bedding, Old Navy clothes, miscellaneous tools, a Gibson acoustic guitar, a car-care kit, two trunk organizers, a special light for viewing counted cross stitch, a step stool, a circuit breaker and 15 DVDs were also stolen.
Christmas decorations gone included a 48-by-40 inch lighted reindeer three boxes of 300 Christmas lights, net Christmas lights, and accessories like a green extension cord and outlets.
Several racks alsow were stolen - a banana rack, a cabinet rack and letter rack with a key holder. There were shelves stolen - a small wooden shelf with hooks, a small glass bathroom shelf and bookshelves in a box.
