BLOOMINGTON - 12-year-old boy was arrested and accused of throwing a rock through a hip-hop performer's tour bus windshield Thursday night, police said.
Bloomington Police Lt. Pete Avery said the boy told officers, "I hate Soulja Boy."
The boy threw the rock at the bus about 7:40 p.m. outside the Hampton Inn West, 906 Maple Hill Road, department spokesman Dave White said. Soulja Boy performed Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The only other event reported in connection with the performance was a single fight between two women outside the Coliseum the night of the concert, White said. Nobody was arrested in that fight, he said.
Bloomington Lt. Joe Butcher said the department used a supervisor and five officers on overtime for security for the concert.
Officers are present for crowd and traffic control at all Coliseum events, and more officers near the venue as people leave, he said.
In general, Butcher said, there have been only a few minor problems at or after Coliseum events. Those problems were related to people who had too much to drink, and that could happen at any similar venue, he said.
