Teens invited to U of I event
BLOOMINGTON - McLean County teens are invited to the Ultimate Project Challenge, from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 15 at the University of Illinois in Urbana.
Participants choose an event in which to compete and then work in groups to complete a challenge. Events include solar-powered cars, geocaching, food, modeling, fashion design, photography, wind energy, floral design and art.
The event is sponsored by the U of I Extension East Central Region 4-H Youth Leadership Team and is open to all teens, ages 13-18. Four-H membership is not required.
To register, call U of I Extension-McLean County, 402 N. Hershey Road, at (309) 663-8306. The $15 fee includes lunch, program materials and a conference T-shirt. Registration deadline is March 7.
B-N LIFE Center offers internships
BLOOMINGTON - LIFE Center for Independent Living will offer its annual legislative internship program this spring for minorities with disabilities and rural residents with disabilities.
Participants will learn how they can affect laws and policies through local, state and federal government.
The class, which includes two trips to Springfield, is free. Classes will be on Tuesdays from March 18 through May 6.
