NORMAL - A man who heard a noise in an apartment bedroom found the leg of an intruder coming through a window and grabbed it, only to be assaulted by the man after they both fell out of the window, a Normal police report said.

The victim was hit three or four times in the face by the intruder and a few other men with him outside the first-floor window about 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of South University Street, police said.

The victim had lacerations to his face and his friends took him for medical treatment, police said.

A group was in the apartment playing a game when the victim heard the noise.

The others couldn't find the victim after going to check on him, but later found him outside the window.

The suspects were apparently trying to break in, police said. Nothing was found stolen.
