A garbage truck overturned Wednesday on its way to the Clinton Landfill, but firefighters said the contaminated dirt it carried posed no threat.

The driver escaped serious injury in the single-vehicle accident about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. near the entrance to the landfill. The driver was momentarily trapped in the vehicle.

The name of the driver was not available.

Clinton firefighter Gary Gundy said the chemicals in the truck's cargo did not pose a threat.

"It was not a hazardous material situation," Gundy said.
