100 years ago

May 15, 1908: There is a 1900 ordinance on the books requiring a $200 license to sell cigarettes in Bloomington, but it has not been enforced. However now it will be enforced, since the campaign of Lucy Page Gaston against the sale of what she calls "dope sticks."

75 years ago

May 15, 1933: BHS will graduate 137 seniors on June 2. The mid-year graduation brings to 174 the number of graduates in the class of 1933. Superintendent S. K. McDowell will hand out the diplomas awarded in June.

50 years ago

May 15, 1958: The BHS newspaper and yearbook will have a feminine touch next year. Faculty advisor Roy Hostetler named Martha Schlenker and Patricia Selders to run the weekly Aegis. The yearbook will be under Cathy Pierson and Jeanne Nolte. All four will be seniors.

25 years ago

May 15, 1983: Greg Grossweiler, 33, of Stanford, spent 17 years looking for his long lost brother. He found him living in Colorado. They were separated at a young age. For Greg the search was difficult, resulting in a nervous breakdown and even commitment to a state hospital.
