BLOOMINGTON - A 64-year-old woman out for her morning walk was the victim of an apparently random aggravated battery, Bloomington police said.
The woman was in the 700 block of East Emerson Street under the Constitution Trail bridge about 9 a.m. Friday when a man she estimated to be in his 20s passed her from the opposite direction, she told police.
She was hit in the head from behind and knocked her to the ground before being hit a couple of more times, police said.
No words were exchanged and nothing was stolen, police said.
The victim told police she believed she was struck with a BB gun or a toy gun.
She declined medical treatment at the scene.
A complete physical description of the suspect was not available.
