CHESTNUT - Firefighters were battling a fire early today at a business in downtown Chestnut.
Firefighters were called about 11 p.m. Thursday to Chestnut Food Center General Store and Restaurant, which is in a two-story brick building on the southeast corner of downtown.
The building appeared to be heavily damaged by fire and smoke, but the fire seemed contained to that building.
The fire appeared to be under control but still burning about midnight.
About 40 firefighters from the Chestnut, Latham, Lincoln Rural and Kenney fire departments and 15 pieces of equipment were on the scene.
There appeared to be no injuries.
The fire scene was two buildings away from the Chestnut firehouse.
