PONTIAC - Event organizers had higher hopes, but Floodstock brought in more than $7,500.

"It went OK, really, but we didn't have anywhere near the turnout we though we would have," organizer Jerry McKinley said. "We had roughly 150 people, but we were kind of figuring in the 400- or 500 range, but we did OK."

Wal-Mart already had donated $5,000 to the cause, bringing the total to $7,525. Floodstock, held Feb. 3, will benefit the American Red Cross and the flood relief fund established by Louis Lyons.

The event featured five live bands, raffles and silent auctions. It followed devastating floods that hit the Pontiac area in January.

McKinley said the total continues to rise as people from Bloomington-Normal and Peoria learn of the collection. He said another event is possible after the weather turns more favorable.

"We are going to talk about it, see what happens and might think about doing something else," he said. "My wife and I did most of the planning and organizing, so I think we are going to take a little break until spring."

Donations still are being accepted for flood relief. To make a donation, call Jerry McKinley at (815) 844-5435 or Louis Lyons Fund at (815) 844-6682 or mail checks to 320 W. Madison St., P.O. Box 224, Pontiac, IL 61764. All local banks in Pontiac also are accepting donations.
