PEORIA - President Bush will be in Peoria on Friday to headline a $500-a-plate, closed-to-the-press luncheon fundraiser for Republican congressional candidate Aaron Schock.
Schock is running against Democrat Colleen Callahan and Green Party candidate Sheldon Schafer for the 18th District congressional seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Ray LaHood.
LaHood said he helped get the ball rolling on Friday's fundraiser by speaking to the president's political director along with Schock.
LaHood said with Sen. Barack Obama at the top of the Democratic ticket, there's concern about a large Democratic turnout. He said because of the prospect of a huge turnout, it can't be taken for granted that Schock has a lock on the traditionally Republican district.
