PONTIAC - Vandals used yellow and white spray paint to put words and phrases on at least five privately owned cars in Pontiac, some of which also had slashed tires.
Some of the words were misspelled and other phrases used incorrect grammar, police said.
The Pontiac Police Department is looking into the vandalism, which was first reported on Saturday. Reports continued Monday.
The vandalism comes one week after several vehicles, including a limousine owned by Mayor Scott McCoy, had their tires slashed. Most of those vehicles were government owned.
Maj. Jim Woolford said police can't connect the two incidents. All the cars damaged this weekend are privately owned. One is a limousine.
The incidents occurred in the 400 block of North Locust, 500 block of West Prairie and 200 block of Timber Street.
Anyone with information about the vandalism reports should call police (815) 844-5148 or leave a tip through the link at www.pontiac.org.
