LINCOLN - Emergency crews searched sections of Salt Creek in Logan County on Thursday after a passing motorist said she was certain she saw what appeared to be a man in trapped in the water, fire officials said.

The searchers, including divers and people on a boat, found nothing, said Dean Kukuck, chief of the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District.

At 2:35 p.m. Friday, the motorist gave the location as Salt Creek at the Old U.S. 66 bridge on Lincoln's south edge. The chief said the search was suspended about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

There were no reports of missing persons, and no footprints were found in the snow.

The motorist said she saw a man wearing blue jeans and a white and black jacket in the creek, and he appeared to be trapped, said Kukuck.

Numerous agencies were involved, including the rural Lincoln fire department, Logan County Dive Team, Logan and McLean County emergency management agencies, and Lincoln city and Logan county police.

Emergency responders from New Holland and Middletown stood by in their areas watching the water, but they also found nothing, said Kukuck.

Officials at this point are considering it a good intent call.
