NORMAL - A group of about 15 youths attacked two 13-year-olds about 10 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Orlando Avenue, a Normal police report said.

The group yelled at the pair, a boy and a girl, and then knocked the girl to the ground and kicked her in the ribs in what was described as a random attack, police said. The boy was punched in the face.

The group fled and the victims flagged down a nearby police officer who was in the vicinity for the fireworks.

An ambulance was called, but the pair declined treatment.
