NORMAL - The majority of Normal Community West High School's 1,700 students stayed home from school Friday.

Parents were given the option to allow students to stay home following a threat targeted to Friday.

"It was a regular day of school for the rest of the students," said Unit 5 spokeswoman Dayna Brown.

"There were no problems," she said.

Normal-based Unit 5 continues to work with Normal police to find out who is responsible.

In a related copycat case at Normal Community earlier this week, administrators said they found the student responsible with the help of other students, the resource officer and cameras. The school is considering discipline and discussing whether charges will be filed with police.

School administrators are available to parents and students who have questions or concerns, Brown said. Call (309) 888-6060 or check the Web site at www.unit5.org/ncwhs.
