Daily Digest for Sept. 20, 2008:
Programs teach teens about policing
MINIER - A new program offered in Minier picks up on the popularity of the crime scene investigation television shows, and gives young people fodder for career decisions.
Minier Police Chief Daryl Weselo said the department is sponsoring an on-going program for teens ages 14-21, interested in law enforcement careers.
Minier's Law Enforcement Exploring Program allows teens to experience a variety of jobs, including city patrol officer, under-cover drug agent, F.B.I. agent and crime scene investigator.
An orientation meeting will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Minier Police Station. 110 W. Central Ave.
The program includes bi-monthly meetings with guest speakers and hands-on role playing. The teens may also participate in state and national conferences.
