BLACKSTONE - A Pontiac man died at a manufacturing plant in northwest Livingston County, but few details about the incident have been made public.

Robert L. Fanchi, 40, died around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Prestress Engineering Corp. in rural Blackstone. His name was the only new information released on Wednesday.

Livingston County Coroner Mike Burke said he is not releasing any details about the incident until an inquest. A date for the inquest has not been scheduled.

A telephone operator at the plant said the company would not comment on the incident, other than to say the situation is being investigated. The business was open and operating Wednesday.

The company makes concrete bridge products, building products and sound barriers. Its main offices are in Prairie Grove, which is northwest of Chicago.

The Blackstone plant is on Illinois 17, about 10 miles west of Dwight. Although there are some buildings, much of the operation is outdoors.

Several pieces of large concrete walls, beams and other building materials are stored outside. Also, there are several large pieces of machinery used for moving the materials.

Livingston County sheriff's police, Illinois State Police, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the coroner's office continue to investigate the incident.
