NORMAL - Normal police are hoping people will help identify a man who raped a woman in north Normal. The woman was jogging when attacked in the 200 block of McKnight Street, said Normal Police Sgt. Dan Kelly Tuesday.

Composite sketch of suspect

The attack occurred about 1:15 a.m. Aug. 7.

Police Tuesday released a computer composite of the suspect. The victim, in her twenties, was approached from behind and she felt a hand on her arm and shoulder.

The woman, who was slapped in the face, tried to fight off the attack, Kelly said. The victim was considerably smaller than her attacker, police said.

The man ran away afterwards and the woman went to a local hospital for treatment.

McKnight is a relatively new street in the vicinity of Raab Road and Rockingham Drive.

The suspect is described as a chubby black male, about five foot nine inches and believed to be in his twenties. He was wearing a short-sleeved white T-shirt and blue jeans.

His lips were darker on the outside and more red on the inside, the victim told police. He had a dark complexion, brown eyes and no facial hair. No weight estimate was available.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Nicole Bruno at 454-9702.
