TONICA - Identification of the second LaSalle woman killed in a fiery accident Tuesday on Interstate 39 is still awaiting lab analysis, the LaSalle County coroner's office said Friday.
Maricela Carreon, 39, and a companion were killed when their Jeep was struck about 8:40 p.m. in the rear by a pickup truck and then pushed into the rear of a semitrailer truck, police said. Officials at Oak State Products in Wenona have said the two women were employees heading to the cookie factory for the late shift.
The Jeep caught fire, and passers-by were unable to reach the women.
Dental records will have to be located to make a positive identification, the coroner's office said.
