BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington man apparently used money from two robberies to bail his girlfriend out of jail in Cook County, police said.

Now, he needs $25,000 to get himself out of McLean County Jail and it's uncertain whether his girlfriend's bond payment will be rescinded.

Police say Jason M. Brown, 25, of the 800 block of East Grove Street, took the money during robberies Jan. 23 at National City Bank, 1332 E. Empire St., and Midwest Title Loans, 604 IAA Drive. He attacked workers with pepper spray, jumped across the counters and took the cash, police said. He now is charged with two counts of armed robbery.

The day after the robberies, Brown bailed his girlfriend, Autumn Beougher, out of Cook County jail, where she was held on a retail theft charge, said Bloomington Police spokesman Duane Moss.

Cook County officials did not return calls Monday, leaving unclear the amount of Beougher's bail and her formal charges. The Cook County sheriff's office said county prosecutors would have to request a court hearing to rescind the bond payment if the money was obtained illegally.

Police in Cicero stopped Brown after an illegal turn Friday night, and found he had a suspended driver's license and an arrest warrant pending from McLean County, Moss said. He said he did not know further details of the traffic stop.

Moss said Brown was suspected quickly after the robberies, but he said he did not know how investigators tied Brown to the crimes.
