PONTIAC - A candle is being blamed for a small house fire on Reynolds Street in Pontiac early Wednesday morning.
There were no injuries reported and all residents got out of the two-story home at 409 W. Reynolds St. safely after the fire was reported around 7:50 a.m., said Pontiac Fire Chief John Cummins. The house was occupied by the family of Joan Sullivan, who were home and noticed the fire in the second-floor bedroom, Cummins said.
A candle accidentally caught the curtains of that room on fire, he said. The fire was under control within 20 minutes, Cummins said.
Cummins said the damage was minor to moderate with some smoke, fire and water damage in the room. Cummins said the house was still livable and is believed to be insured.
Attempts to reach Sullivan by phone Wednesday morning were unsuccessful.
