CLINTON - The Clinton Power Station is operating within federal safety guidelines, according to a report set to be released during a public meeting Thursday in Clinton.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with officials of Exelon Generation Co., owners of the single-unit nuclear plant, at 6 p.m. at the Vespasian Warner Library.
The NRC will answer questions or comments from the public about the report issued as part of the federal inspection process of the nuclear facility.
"Overall, Clinton Power Station operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety and fully met all cornerstone objectives," read a letter sent to plant officials March 2.
Federal inspectors completed their assessment of the plant on Feb. 9.
As a result of the satisfactory review, the NRC will conduct normal, baseline inspections of the plant during the coming year.
Plant operations included on the upcoming inspection schedule include access control to radiologically significant areas, radioactive material processing and transportation, radiological instrumentation and maintenance effectiveness.
