Public safety reports for May 22
PONTIAC - A 51-year-old trucker from Little Rock, Ark., was dead at the scene of a semitrailer truck crash on Interstate 55 near Pontiac, Livingston County Coroner Mike Burke said Monday in a statement.
Elroy Jamerson had to be extricated after the crash, which was about 10:15 p.m. Sunday. The semi left the northbound lanes and went into the median before ending up on its roof at Mile Marker 194.
Emergency medial personnel from Duffy Ambulance Service and Pontiac firefighters responded to the crash site. State police and the coroner's office are investigating.
Jamerson's was the 18th death from a traffic crash this year in Illinois State Police District 6, which covers DeWitt, Livingston and McLean counties, and the ninth in Livingston County.
- A 6-year-old Pontiac boy remained hospitalized Monday after being hit by a van while skateboarding Saturday night.
Terry Lockhart, 6, of the 700 block of Plum Street, was attempting to cross Oakland Avenue at Allin Street around 5:45 p.m. when he was struck by a van owned by Faith Missionary Church, 304 Jersey Ave., Normal, Bloomington police said. Police identified the driver as Vanetta Denson, 51, of the 1900 block of Widermere Drive, Normal.
Lockhart remained in fair condition at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, on Monday.
- A window worth $300 was broken on a repossessed automobile kept at Prarieland Federal Credit Union, 416 Kays Drive, over the weekend, and stereo speakers valued at $600 were taken, Normal police reported.
