GLEN ELLYN - A federal jury has found that a west suburban Chicago police officer's fatal shooting of a naked college student doesn't constitute excessive force.
The father of 22-year-old College of DuPage student Benjamin Uwumargogie sued the village of Glen Ellyn and officer Jason Bradley after the 2006 shooting.
Bradley was responding to a domestic battery call at Uwumargogie's apartment when he says the student straddled him and punched him repeatedly in the face. Bradley says he fired when he thought he was going to lose consciousness.
Lawyers for Uwumarogie say Bradley could have used other methods to bring the man under control.
The jury deliberated for less than an hour.
Bradley is now an Illinois state trooper.
