PONTIAC – Effective immediately, OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center is altering access to its Emergency Department in anticipation of construction beginning on an expansion project that includes part of the hospital's ER.
All non-Emergency Department patients and visitors will be required to use the east (main lobby) or south entrances between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
All Emergency Department entrances from both the outside and from the interior hospital hallways will be restricted to employees, Emergency Department patients and family while the work is going on.
The construction will affect how Emergency Department patients enter the building, so the public is encouraged to use caution around the Emergency Department drive and to look for signs directing patients and visitors to the ambulance entrance because the walk-in entrance to the Emergency Department will be closed.
In addition, all vehicles approaching the canopy to drop off an emergency patient must enter from the north end of the drive, instead of the south.
Non-Emergency Department patients and visitors who need assistance into the building from the east or south parking areas can contact the OSF Saint James volunteer desk by calling 815-842-8240 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Visitors who must be at the medical center after 8 p.m. will need to go to the west side Emergency Department doors and ask to be let in the building.
