SPRINGFIELD — Nonemergency roadwork will be suspended over the Labor Day weekend, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.
Some lane closures will remain in place. Motorists should obey posted speed limits and drive with caution through work zones.

Illinois 170 is closed from Grand Ridge/Mazon Road to north of Ransom for culvert replacements. Detour posted.
On I-55 over an abandoned railroad 1.1 miles north of Lincoln, bridge reconstruction reduces northbound and southbound lanes to one lane.
On I-55 over Business Loop 55 and Union Pacific Railroad, about 2 miles northeast of Lincoln, bridge reconstruction reduces northbound and southbound lanes to one lane.
On I-55 over an abandoned railroad and Race Street south of Atlanta, bridge reconstruction reduces northbound and southbound lanes to one lane.
Business Loop 55 over Salt Creek at the south edge of Lincoln; bridge is closed to traffic for reconstruction.
Bridge rehabilitation on Illinois 10 over Sugar Creek, three miles east of New Holland has reduced traffic to one lane controlled by traffic signals.
Business I-55/Veterans Parkway over I-74 southwest of Bloomington has northbound and southbound passing lanes closed with barriers in place. A marked traffic pattern is in use.
I-39, north of Normal from mile posts 1 to 5, will have northbound and southbound passing lanes closed. A marked traffic pattern is in use.
Near Morton, the ramp from northbound Interstate 155 to eastbound I-74 is closed. Traffic should follow the marked detour. The eastbound I-74 ramp to southbound I-155 is reduced to one lane.
Eastbound Illinois 116, north of Illinois 26, will be reduced to one lane for bridge reconstruction. Traffic will use a crossover.
Illinois 9, 2.5 miles west of Mackinaw, will be reduced to one lane with traffic controlled by temporary signals. This is for bridge reconstruction.
