NORMAL — High-speed rail work will divert some Amtrak passengers to chartered buses Monday through Sept. 22.
Union Pacific Railroad workers will upgrade bridges and culverts south of Bloomington-Normal affecting Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle passengers.
Northbound Lincoln Service passengers will be bused from St. Louis to Bloomington-Normal then travel via train from the Twin Cities to Chicago. Southbound Lincoln Service passengers will ride Amtrak to the Twin Cities then be bused to St. Louis.
The changes also will affect arrival and departure times.
Texas Eagle will detour between Chicago and St. Louis and not serve any of the usual stations. Alternate transportation will be provided from Joliet south and from St. Louis north to Joliet.
The final phase of 2013 high-speed rail work will begin in October. Service disruptions will be announced later.
