BLOOMINGTON - A 43-year-old Bloomington man died Sunday after being injured in a motorcycle crash on Veterans Parkway that may have involved alcohol, authorities said.
Franklin D. Blair, 800 block of West Oakland Avenue, and his female passenger were northbound on Veterans around 9 p.m. Saturday when his Harley-Davidson failed to complete a turn onto eastbound Eastland Drive and struck a curb, authorities said.
Blair, who was found face-down on Eastland, and the woman were taken to nearby OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. The woman did not appear to be seriously injured and was not admitted to the hospital.
Blair "died unexpectedly" at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, said McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling.
An autopsy showed cerebral injuries, but the cause of death will be determined after microscopic studies and forensic toxicology tests.
Kimmerling said Blair was "very proud" of his commercial driver's license and worked for Beckmann Trucking, Carlyle.
A witness told police that just before the crash he saw two motorcycles going 65 to 70 mph north on Veterans, said police spokesman Duane Moss. The second motorcyclist riding ahead of Blair told police he heard some tires squeal and looked back to find him on the pavement, Moss said.
No citations have been issued.
