PONTIAC — To ensure that college students who are Livingston County residents get the H1N1 influenza vaccination, the Livingston County Health Department will have a free vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the health department in Pontiac.
By getting vaccinated when they are home for Thanksgiving, students will have time to build immunity before they begin winter break in December, said MaLinda Hillman, health department administrator.
The Wednesday clinic also will be open to pregnant women, children and young adults ages 6 months through 24 years old, adults ages 25 through 64 with a chronic health condition or lowered immunity, household members and caregivers of children less than 6 months old, and health care workers and emergency medical services providers with direct patient contact.
Children ages 6 months through 9 years old who received their first vaccine dose before Nov. 5 are eligible to receive their second dose at Wednesday’s clinic.
