NORMAL -- A shell tipped over during the fireworks display at Normal's Fairview Park caused some commotion during the show Saturday night, but no injuries were reported.
Normal Police Sgt. Kevin Henderson said the shell tipped over and launched horizontally instead of vertically but no one was hit.
"There was some alarm among the fireworks people until they figured out what kind of shell was knocked over," Henderson said.
Normal police officers and firefighters were already on-scene as a precaution, he added.
