SPRINGFIELD -- A rural Tazewell County man has died after an accident early Friday in Springfield.

Shawn Sheets, 32, was riding his motorcycle on Ill. Route 29, two miles north of Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, when he collided with a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sangamon County Coroner Susan Boone.

Preliminary autopsy results indicated the cause of death as blunt force injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by Illinois State Police.
